TIP0000003:
Disk or Network Error message
Question:
We are getting a Disk or Network Error in HelpDesk?

Cause:
If Total Support HelpDesk appears to loose connection to the network, remember that Total Support HelpDesk requires a continued connection, and passes data back and fourth from the workstation to the server. If the connection is dropped / interrupted, the connection is lost and HelpDesk does not recovery and will return a Disk or Network error message.

Check the System Resource - minimum 3 GHz processor (recommend 4 GHz). If you have anything less than 3 GHz, Disk or Network Error message will be common because the software is reading and processing faster than the computer can handle.

In some cases if your client is LAN based, by restarting HelpDesk should make the connection again.

Also try compacting and repairing the database as your database could have indexes out of sync.

If you have a low processor speed and are running other applications that also have a continued connection, this may cause collisions and display the Disk or Network error.

If this is an on-going issue, we would recommend that you install a network analyzer to see what and where the network packs are getting dropped. We use a application from www.ethereal.com

While we do not have any issues in our environment, your environment could have different results. Strongly recommend you back up any server and/or client workstations before installing any 3rd party application. The review and selection of such software is your responsible. Resource Dynamics is not responsible for any issues caused by 3rd party software outside of HelpDesk.

If your client is REMOTE based, we recommend and fully support GO-Global for Windows when purchased through us, as the solution to Web Enable Total Support HelpDesk.

If your client is REMOTE based and using another solution, support maybe limited as we are unable to troubleshoot 3rd party applications such as RDP, WTS, Citrix, etc.. For clients using one of these solutions, you can google for possible solutions to further assist.
